HORSE-REPRO.COM, Dr. William B. Ley, is now available in private practice as owner of Rectortown Equine Center to serve the Clarke, Loudoun and Fauquier counties of northern Virginia. Dr. Ley is also accepting cases requiring routine and advanced reproductive technology state and nation wide.

Dr. Ley is organizing the most prominent reproductive specialists in the United States,
The eART Group
, as consultants and active participants in a single ‘think-tank of theriogenologists’. eART stands for Equine Assisted Reproductive Technology. A private herd of mares will be used by The eART group for non-invasive pilot projects, clinical trials, and other reproductive research related ideas. Seminars to debut new products, techniques, and procedures will promote transfer of technology reaching the industry. A clinical residency program at HORSE-REPRO.COM directed by Dr. Ley and The eART Group will produce the next generation of theriogenologists with the best training opportunities in the world.

Located in an area with one of the highest sport horse populations in the country, breeders will not only have access to the landmark services and cutting edge technology of HORSE-REPRO.COM, they will also have the opportunity to influence the direction of equine reproductive research based upon industry needs. A producer and breeders advisory group will help direct research efforts and expenditure of donated funds by the eART Group in advancement of the horse breeding industry as a whole.

All horses in our care whether as patients or as residents of our broodmare band will be cared for with the utmost in compassion, care and respect.

Tip of the week:

Mares in the Spring time go through a transitional period before entering the physiological breeding season. This period's duration varies between mares. But understand that just because you see your mare showing signs of heat, it does not mean she is necessarily going through a heat cycle. She may have one to two very small follicles producing sufficient estrogen to cause her to show behavioral signs of estrus or heat. That does not mean she is ready to breed! It may be another 20 to 40 days before she ovulates for the first time this Spring, and then and only then can we say she has entered the true physiologic breeding season.
